Halal Certification Consulting

Halal certificate — an internationally recognised certificate declaring product/service conformity with Islamic rules. In Türkiye, issued by Halal Accreditation Authority (HAK) accredited bodies. A de facto market access requirement for the 1.9 billion Muslim consumer market (especially the Gulf, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Maghreb).

Asil's role: scope analysis, documentation, accompaniment for HAK-accredited body audit.

§1 Which sectors need it?

  • Food producers — especially meat + dairy + pulses + frozen + processed
  • Cosmetics + cleaning — alcohol content, animal-source ingredients, ethical production
  • Pharma + dietary supplements — gelatin (halal/non-halal), alcohol-based solvents
  • Tourism + hospitality — halal hotel certificate (beverages, food, bathing standards)
  • Logistics + packaging — non-contaminated transport of halal products
  • Restaurants + catering — Muslim customer segment trust

§2 OIC/SMIIC standards

Halal certification runs on a single standard: OIC/SMIIC (Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries):

  • OIC/SMIIC 1: Halal Food General Guidelines
  • OIC/SMIIC 2: Requirements for accreditation bodies
  • OIC/SMIIC 17: Halal tourism
  • OIC/SMIIC 24: Halal cosmetics

Türkiye is a founding member of OIC/SMIIC; HAK accredits Turkish certification bodies against these standards.

  • HelalTr
  • HKB (Halal Conference Bureau Certification)

Asil selects the right body based on your target export market.

§5 Combined with ISO 22000

For food firms, Halal + ISO 22000 is a natural pairing — shared documentation (raw material control, hygiene, traceability) serves both. See our ISO 22000 page.
