Trademark, patent, and R&D incentives in Türkiye
Industrial property — trademark, patent, utility model, design — does not just provide protection; it is often a prerequisite or output criterion for the many incentives the state offers. If you hold a registered mark you can benefit from the Ministry of Trade's international fair support, the KOSGEB Trademark Registration Support, and even the performance score for R&D centres.
This tool presents the programmes we frequently apply for in a curated way. Pick your profile, see matching incentives; we run the application process in parallel with your registration file.
Key support programmes (summary)
- KOSGEB Trademark Registration Support: for SMEs, partial reimbursement of domestic and international filing fees plus agent expenses.
- Ministry of Trade International Trademark Support: for exporters, up to 50,000 USD per mark (within the annual cap).
- International Fair / Promotion Support: registered trademark required in some categories; booth cost, brochures, and advertising expenses are reimbursed.
- TÜBİTAK 1507 SME R&D: R&D project funding up to 600,000 TL. Patent output earns a bonus.
- TÜBİTAK 1602 Patent Support: covers patent application fees and PCT costs.
- R&D Law 5746 Tax Reductions: tax benefits for R&D centres covering R&D personnel and a deduction on R&D expenditure.
The "Asil note" — why it matters
Every programme has its own conditions, schedules, and forms. When the registration file and incentive application are not run in parallel, reimbursement is delayed or lost.
Out of scope
This guide covers the main Turkish IP + R&D incentives. If you need sector-specific support (e.g. agriculture, tourism) or international programmes such as EU Horizon Europe, we recommend engaging the relevant sector consultancy. For patent / trademark / design / R&D programmes you can continue with Asil.

Frequently Asked Questions
- SMEs in the KOSGEB database can apply for partial reimbursement of fees and agent expenses for each registered mark. We run the process in parallel with your registration file; no separate timeline.
- The Ministry of Trade requires a registered trademark for some categories; attending an international fair with an unregistered mark also carries customs precautionary-measure risk. Completing or filing registration in the destination country before the fair is the safe route.
- The 1507 SME R&D programme runs for 18 months; a patent application is a leading performance indicator among project outputs. Positioning the patent application as a project output increases your TÜBİTAK score and lets the processes reinforce each other.
- The full deduction requires R&D-centre status (15+ R&D personnel, separate office, etc.). Design-centre status is a lower-threshold alternative. Even outside these statuses, limited tax advantages apply to R&D expenditure.
- We co-file patent applications for academics' inventions with the Erciyes University TTO. The TÜBİTAK 1602 patent support programme reserves a quota for such files. The Asil + TTO + academic three-way collaboration is part of our routine work.
