ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification
- Duration
- Setup 4-7 months · audit 1-2 months
ISO 14001:2015 — environmental management system standard. Same Annex SL structure as ISO 9001 but with a different focus: environmental impact, legal compliance tracking, waste management, energy efficiency. In Türkiye, proving compliance with Environmental Law No. 2872 + Zero Waste Regulation is critical for tenders and exports.
Asil's role: environmental aspect analysis, documentation, legal compliance list. Certificate issued by a TÜRKAK-accredited body.
§1 Who needs it?
- Industrial Registry Law (No. 6948) production firms
- Hazardous waste generators (chemical, metal, textile)
- EU export-oriented manufacturers — runs in parallel with CE
- Public tender participants — usually ISO 9001 + 14001 required together
- Corporate clients seeking Zero Waste certification
§2 Process
| Step | Duration |
|---|---|
| Environmental aspect analysis (raw materials, water, energy, waste flows) | 3-4 weeks |
| Legal compliance assessment (applicable regulation list) | 2-3 weeks |
| Documentation (environmental policy, procedures, records) | 4-6 weeks |
| Staff training + awareness programme | 2 weeks |
| Internal audit | 2 weeks |
| Accredited body audit (Stage 1 + 2) | 4-6 weeks |
| Certificate issuance | 4-6 weeks |
Total: 4-7 months.
§3 Integrated setup with ISO 9001
ISO 14001 shares Annex SL structure with ISO 9001. If you already hold ISO 9001, integrating 14001 on top saves 40% in time and cost. Asil builds an Integrated Management System (IMS): single manual + single audit cycle + combined certification visit.
Adding ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) creates a triple integrated system — a tier-1 supplier requirement.
§4 Zero Waste Regulation compliance
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change's Zero Waste Regulation grants a Zero Waste Certificate to qualifying businesses. ISO 14001 is considered a prerequisite — planning the two together is most efficient.
§5 Fake certification risk
Certificates issued by "non-TÜRKAK" accreditation bodies are not accepted in Turkish public tenders and considered invalid by EU export customers. Always select from the TÜRKAK accredited list.
§6 KOSGEB + Ministry of Environment support
- KOSGEB Certification Support: 50-75% reimbursement (SME)
- Ministry of Environment Management System Certification Support
- EU IPA Fund: green transition projects
